Roasting schedule over All Saints' long weekend - November 1st

We're having some changes on the roasting dates over All Saints' long weekend . We'll roast on Monday October 31st (instead of Saturday 29th) and ship on Wednesday November 2nd.

Being a bank holiday, we wouldn't be able to ship before that anyway.

We want to make sure you'll get your coffee fresh even this time.

A microlot topping in cup score (90!): Ethiopia Warqee ☕

Today we are thrilled to release an outstanding quality Ethiopian coffee that Nero Scuro Specialty Coffees sourced for you. The coffee is immediately available on our online shop.

It comes from the Debo wetmill (Kochere region - Yirgachefe), which collects, sorts and processes cherries from about 750 small producers in the area. Each farmer grows less than 1500 trees with a production of 100 to 200 grams of green coffee per tree. In a few words, a truly rare microlot!

This coffee is a Grade 1 Ethiopian Heirloom. It has been grown and harvested at about 2.000masl and has been processed with a fully washed approach. The SCAA cup score tops to 90!

In the cup we found jasmine and violet, citrus, tangerine, marzipan and green apple acidity. It a delicate and elegant, yet very structured coffee.

Dear Coffee Lovers,

We are taking a break in August to attend some SCAE courses abroad and keep ourselves updated on the latest coffee trends. And we will take the chance to rest a bit too :-)

The roastery will be closed from the 9th to the 29th of August. The last roasting day will be the 3rd with shipping on the 5th.

We will be back with many new specialty coffees, stay tuned.

Unexpected aromas in this new microlot from El Salvador

We just finished to roast profile a new microlot from El Salvador, which is now available on our webshop.

The Finca Don Jaime is located in the Chalatenango region, north-west of El Salvador, at an altitude of about 1600m a. The finca is extended over only seven hectares: of which three are grown at Pacas and four at Pacamara.

The exclusive single-origin microlot that Nero Scuro has obtained and roasted for you is composed only of selected Pacas beans, a natural mutation of Bourbon, appeared at the end of the '40s right in El Salvador.

The microlot has been processed by removing the skin but leaving all the pulp on the bean (honey pulped process), fermented for 18 hours and finally dried for two weeks.

In the cup this coffee is very rich and sweet. We tasted notes of raisins, lemon zest, cherry and tropical fruits. This El Salvador is very special and unique. We love it as it departs from the most classic flavors of this single origin, which usually recalls the conventional roasted peanuts.

Small Change to This Week's Roasting Schedule

There will be a small variation to the roasting schedule on the week ending the 5th of June, 2016.

Due to an Italian bank Holliday ("Festa della Repubblica") we will anticipate to Friday 3rd, as opposed to Saturday 4th, the roasting day. All the orders will be shipped as per usual on Monday 6th.

All the orders placed after the 10am of Friday 3rd will be roasted on the 11th of June and shipped on the 13th of June, as per usual schedule.

Mauro Carrazza's Antica Dimora restaurant is an extreme-quality, single-table, reservation-required restaurant in Capranica, about an hour by car from Rome.

From the review: “It’s a pleasure to watch [Mauro] preparing the dishes, it does it with skill and almost noiselessly. He cooks strictly in the crock: only with this material you can cook a soup for over three hours, enhancing the flavours.”

Mauro serves our single origin coffees extracted with the Italian classic Moka Pot.

“Mauro found a small manufacturer selling only fine single variety packs from Burundi, Colombia, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Kenya and Mexico. We got a Burundi, really good and not at all bitter, so much so that we did not feel the need to add sugar.”

The Nero Scuro specialty coffees will be served from the 10th of April to the 12nd at the SCAE Brew Bar, as part of the Sol & Agrifood exhibition, part of the larger Vinitaly fair which will be held at the Trade Fair Buildings of Verona (Italy).

In Verona you will have the chance of tasting our Kenya Gatuya AA and Colombia Nariño Benedo Urbano Microlot extracted with pour-over methods by expert SCAE baristas.

The SCAE brew bar is in the area “A Taste of Coffee” of the Sol & Agrifood Pav. C.

Over the Easter week we will stick to the regular roasting schedule. Due to the Easter Monday public holiday, the shipping will be delayed of one day. 

Therefore all the orders placed from the 19th to the 25th of March will  be roasted on the 26th and shipped on the 29th.
