Idido washing station is located at 1,960 to 2,090 meters above sea level.
The producer group operating under the name Idido washing station, is part of the "Ama Project," which was founded in 2023 with the primary aim of supporting female farmers and empowering women in their respective communities. The group's history is deeply rooted in its dedication to elevating the roles and contributions of women in agriculture. Located in Idido, Yirgacheffe, this group serves as a crucial hub for its members' agricultural products.

Ama provides extensive assistance to its members, including the implementation of the "Ama Commitment Income Diversification Scheme." This initiative seeks to improve the financial well-being of its members through training, financial support, and the provision of necessary equipment. These combined efforts are geared toward enhancing the lives of female farmers and advancing gender equality in the agricultural sector.
Although Ama and its affiliated farmers lack formal certifications, their commitment to organic farming is evident. They have chosen to adopt organic practices, but official certification has not been pursued due to the substantial costs associated with the verification process.

The cooperative's efforts extend beyond coffee production, encompassing economic, social, and governance aspects. The "Ama Commitment Income Diversification Scheme" is a prime example of their social initiatives.
In terms of economic transactions, farmers receive an immediate payment of 60% upon delivering their produce, with the remaining portion disbursed when the exporter settles with the suppliers after marketing the lots.

Amarech Ararso is the producer responsible for this particular lot, and her name, "she became beautiful," carries significance. Her farm and processing station are situated in Hada and play a pivotal role in the cooperative's activities. Amarech sources cherries from local farmers and processes them on-site. Her farm covers 2 hectares and is located at an elevation of 2050 meters, creating favorable conditions for cultivating high-quality coffee beans.
Amarech's personal journey exemplifies the resilience and strength of women in rural Ethiopia. Married at the age of 14, she has overcome challenges to become a successful entrepreneur with a family of ten children and six grandchildren so far.

During the harvest season (November to January), Amarech employs 40 seasonal workers in addition to her 5 permanent employees. The farm's cultivation practices involve growing coffee under the shade of false banana trees and embracing organic methods. Despite the absence of formal certification, skilled seasonal workers carefully handpick the coffee cherries during the harvest.

Following the harvest, the coffee cherries undergo a specific processing routine. They are anaerobically fermented in sealed plastic bags for 7 days and then spread out on raised beds to undergo drying in direct sunlight for 15-20 days. After drying, the coffee is stored in an on-site warehouse before being transported to the processing facility in Addis Ababa.

In the cup: tangerine, cherry, cinnamon, jasmine. Balanced, with a long and sweet aftertaste.
