The Fazenda CETEC began in the childhood dreams of the brothers Márcio Custódio and Izonel Junior, born of a humble family. Following their graduation, the brothers became university professors and, after a few years as teachers, they decided to create their own technical school called CETEC - Technological Center of Lavras, in the southern region of Minas Gerais. This school was created to provide young people in need with the opportunity to study and improve their life quality, as happened to the young brothers Márcio and Izonel.
After more than 10 years and more than 5,000 students trained, the brothers decided to make their childhood dreams come true by buying a small farm that at the time was raising cattle. However, Izonel Junior died exactly one day after buying this farm. In memory of his brother, Marcio decided to continue the dream, replacing cattle with coffee.
Marcio has invested heavily to build an infrastructure capable of producing high-quality coffee. In particular, he is interested in experimental coffee processes. The proposed lot prepared according to the natural method, had the cherries dried using hot air forced to circulate from under to over them. The air temperature is controlled and kept constant, to obtain homogeneous drying and perfect fermentation control.
The lot is composed of Red Catuai varietal. In the cup, this coffee is balanced and complex, with notes of chocolate, caramel, roasted hazelnuts, and red berries. Very sweet and dense, it has a full body. Roasted to order as Nero Scuro’s standards, the roast profile has been perfected for espresso extraction.
